He was born to the union of Ora Lee Tyler and Velma L. Tyler on October 14, 1940. He graduated from Hebert High School in 1959. He completed brick laying school and he received a certificate for small engine repair.

Brother Tyler loved his church, Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church. Many Sunday’s he would be sick, but still attend saying “I’m dedicated to the Lord, I have to go to church”.

Alexander Tyler lost his battle with cancer June 14, 2020, at the age of 79.

He leaves to cherish his life, wife of 57 years, Edith M. Tyler; sons, Kenneth W. Tyler (Marciana C.), Raymond L. Tyler (Donzella); grandchildren, Crystal Tyler and Gerard Alexander Tyler; one brother, Eddie Ray Tyler; one sister, Beverly Tyler Provost; nephews, Michael Provost (Ruth), and Waverly Pierre III; nieces, Karen Smith (Kevin), Roselyn Pierre and Cheryl Jones. He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma L. Tyler; father, Ora Lee Tyler, Sr.; sister, Patsy Maze Tyler and brother, Ora Lee Tyler, Jr.

Friday, July 24, 2020 – Lie in State 3 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Visitation 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Burial to follow at Live Oak Memorial Park
