Leon Jourdan “LJ or Uncle Jr.” Williams, Jr., 91, native of Beaumont, TX passed away at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Francisco, CA on Friday, March 2, 2018.
He was a US Army WW II veteran. He made San Francisco his home for the past 60 plus years. He retired from San Francisco Unified School District as the Custodian Supervisor.
After getting honorably discharged from the Army after WW II he also played for the Royal Giants a Negro Baseball league team as pitcher playing with his best friend, who was the catcher for the team for several years.
He leaves memories to his daughters, Orange Rose, Beverly Payne (Melvin), Dorothy Levine, Lillian Tracy Jackson (Frank), Gloria Johnson (Carlton) and Geneva Armstrong; stepdaughter, Cesley Darst; stepsons, Kenneth Woodward and Joseph Woodward; special daughter, Gwendolyn Hill; a special cousin Helen Bess Nichols; nieces, Hazel Comeaux Hadnot, Delores Comeaux Guidry, Wanda Comeaux Johnson (Jason), Patricia Anderson and Walterine Ross; nephew, Darryl Williams; 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; a host of loving family and friends.
On Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Comeaux Community Funeral Chapel there will be a visitation from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Live Oak Memorial Park.
