Matthew William McGee, was born on June 26, 1970 in Beaumont, Texas, and became the proud son of the late John and Mary McGee.
After graduating from Central High School’s Class of 1988, Beaumont, Texas., he served in the United States Marine Corp Division and fought in Desert Storm War. Matthew received many prestigious honors and awards which include: The National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksman Badge, SFA Service Deployment Ribbon (2nd) Award), Southwest Asia Service Medal (W/ 2 Bronze Stars), and Kuwait Liberation Medal.
Upon his return home, he worked as a Corrections Officer for the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. This is where he met his loving wife, Shanelle Sinegal-McGee. After residing in Beaumont for several years, the couple moved to Houston, Texas, where he began to further his education. Matthew graduated with an Associate of Science Degree, from Houston Community College. Shortly after he received his Bachelor of Business Degree from LeTourneau University, he became a college recruiter for Devry University.
Matthew and Shanelle enjoyed several years of a blissful marriage, until she was called home to the Lord on March 8, 2014. Matthew will always be remembered by family and friends as a man who always put family first. His favorite pastimes included family gatherings, cooking, playing dominoes, watching sports, and fishing.
Matthew is preceded in death by his wife, Shanelle Ranette Sinegal-McGee; and his father and mother, John and Mary McGee.
He leaves to cherish his memories; sister, Buffy Sutton (Larry) of Sugar Land, Texas; two aunts, Delores Arceneaux and Audrey Holmes, both of Beaumont, Texas; two nephews, Lyndon Ryan Romar of Houston, Texas, and Logan Matthew Kirkby of Sugar Land, Texas; two nieces Phenice Nitasha Booker of Houston, Texas and Leah Simone Sutton of Sugar Land, Texas; and a host of extended family and friends. He is also survived by his Labrador Retriever, “Shadow”, whom he loved dearly.
Matthew will be missed but never forgotten. We thank God for his forty-seven (47) years on earth, and we look forward to joining him in eternity.
