Mrs. Jessie Lee Cluff

03.28.1927 – 05.04.2020

A Glimpse into Jessie’s Life……..

Jessie Lee Cluff was born March 28, 1927 to Oscar and Cherry Hector in New Iberia, LA.

Jessie attended schools in Beaumont, TX, where she graduated from Charlton Pollard High in 1944.

Jessie married Eddie Lee Cluff and together they raised a daughter, Cherry Dee.  Jessie retired from the Beaumont Club as a chef.  She enjoyed spending her spare time with her family and her beloved church, East Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Jessie accepted Christ at an early age at East Mount Olive Baptist Church, 660 Wall Street, which was later moved to 1197 Corley St.  Jessie served on the Usher Board for over 75 years, Sunday School Secretary and in the Women’s Mission Auxiliary. She traveled all over the U.S. with the National Baptist Convention.  Jessie loved her church and only missed service when she would travel back and forth to California to be with her daughter.  Jessie was faithful to her church and her family until she was called home to be with the Lord on May 4, 2020. Ms. Jessie was loved and will forever be in our hearts.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter, Cherry Dee McGee; grandchildren, Deana R. Caranto (Jason), Denny L. Phillips (Tameka), Eric .D McGee Jr., Eron Daniel McGee; great grandchildren, Joshua, Diamond, Jasmine, Star, Alexis, and Jayden; great-great grandchildren, Zahria and Journey; niece, Hedy Griffin; great nieces, Brittney and Tamara; nephew, Darryl Griffin; nephew-in-law, Java Lewis; great nephew Jordan, and great-great nephews, Javon and Brandon, and her East Mount Olive Church family.

Jessie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Daisy McCline; mother, Cherry Edwards; father, Oscar Hector; brother, Alvin John Hector; sister, Billie Jo Henry; niece, Jerri Lewis, and nephew, Lavern Griffin, Jr.

There will be a visitation on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. at Comeaux Community Funeral Chapel, 624 Irma St. in Beaumont. Jessie will take her earthly rest at Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Comeaux Community Funeral Chapel.

Psalm 23: 4
