Nita Maria (Loeb) Washington departed this life on Monday, July 1, 2019 in Port Arthur, Texas. She was born September 15, 1953 in Beaumont, Texas to Doretha and Everett Loeb, Sr. Nita was the second youngest of her siblings.


Nita attended Beaumont High School in Beaumont, Texas. She pursued post secondary degrees at Texas Women’s University and Lamar University. Nita obtained a paralegal certificate and worked as a teacher’s aide for Beaumont Independent School District.

Nita married George Washington, Jr. (deceased). Upon their union, they had one child, Maegan E. Washington.

Nita enjoyed reading and was well versed in every subject. She also loved to sing and play the piano. Her greatest joy and the love of her life was her only child, Maegan. Nita’s family is especially appreciative of her caring for her mother over the last 12 years.

Nita is survived by her siblings: Doris Annette (Franklin) Gans, Everett (Naomi) Loeb, Jr., Cedric (Sabrina) Loeb, sister-in-law Judith (Moritz – deceased) Craven and her daughter, Maegan E. Washington. Nita also leaves a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

There will be a memorial service at Comeaux Community Funeral Chapel, 624 Irma St. in Beaumont, Texas on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 10 a.m.
