Ora Ann Gage Richard, 76, died Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born November 8, 1940 in Abbeville, Louisiana to the parents of Garfield Gage and Malanie Guidry Gage.

Visitation will begin at 8 A.M. with Christian rosary to be recited at 9:15 A.M. and funeral at 10 A.M. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 4445 Ave. A, September 16, 2017 in Beaumont with Father Anthony officiating. Entombment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery Mausoleum under the direction of Community Funeral Chapel.

Ora was a native of Abbeville, Louisiana, and a longtime resident of Beaumont for 75 years. She attended schools in Beaumont, Texas and graduated from Hebert High School Class of 1958. She attended Prairie View A&M University and began teaching in 1961 at the age of 20. She worked as an educator for Beaumont Independent School District (BISD) for 35 years. After retiring from teaching she continued to remain active as an income tax preparer for H&R Block.

She is survived by her son, Dr. John Wesley Richard, III; two brothers, Marvin Clayton Gage, Malcolm Russell Gage; a host of relatives, friends, and former BISD and H&R Block co-workers.

Her vibrant personality and generous spirit will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this woman of God.
