Rhoda “Tang” Moaning, 62, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2019 in Beaumont, Texas. She was born to the late JoAnn Jackson Matthews (Roy Mathews) and Johnnie Coleman on September 29, 1956 in Beaumont, Texas. Rhoda was a proud member of the first integrated graduating class of South Park High School in 1975 and was a proud member of  the South Park Greenies dance team while attending high school.

She began her professional career with Servomation Refreshments Inc. at West Brook High School where she affectionally became known as the “Change Lady”. Her career path led her to become a Qualified Mental Health Professional with Spindletop MHMRA of Beaumont, Texas. She passed her appreciation for crafting and bargain shopping to her daughter, Kima. Together; they spent countless hours crafting, decorating, and shopping until they couldn’t shop anymore.

Rhoda was the glue that held the family together; Her family was the complete centerpiece of her life. She championed the traditions that had been passed down from previous generations and made it her mission to ensure that family members participated in all activities.  Rhoda didn’t mind asserting a stern talking to and even a little guilt to ensure they showed up.

Rhoda served as encourager, leader, counselor, prayer warrior, peacemaker, and confidant to her family and friends. No issue was too big or small for her to take on.  She always offered these words of advice, “You can do all things through Christ”, “Keep waking up saying good morning”, and “God is Good”. She truly brought peace and goodwill to everyone she encountered.
