A Glimpse at Madonna’s Life
On April 24, 1953, Madonna Olivia Victor was the last of three, born to the late Lillie Mae and Francis Victor in Lafayette, Louisiana. At a young age, she accepted Christ and was baptized under the catholic faith.
Madonna graduated from Holy Rosary Institute class of 1971. She later went to USL-Lafayette.
In 1977, she bore her first child, Travis. In 1980, she moved to Texas, making Beaumont her new home. This was also the year her second son, Quincy was born. In 1981, Madonna started her career at St. Elizabeth as a scrub technician. In 2001, she inherited the name Duchess after becoming a first time grandmother. She did not want to be called any of the typical “grandmother” names and felt she was too young, so Duchess she became. She has been called that name ever since, by all five of her grandchildren. In 2008, Madonna retired from the hospital, after serving 27 years. Throughout those years, she made countless number of friends whom some she remained close with until her passing. After retirement, she became a Circuit Coach at Curves Inc. until 2012.
Her remaining years, she spent devoting herself to others, whether it was sitting by someone’s bedside, taking someone to the doctor, or being a “Duchess.” She often said, “I may not have any money to give, but I have me!”
Madonna loved and lived her life; she especially loved her family and favorite time of year, Mardi Gras!
Madonna transitioned from earth to her heavenly home on Friday, February 28, 2020. She is preceded in death by both parents and two brothers Albert Francis Victor and Kenneth Jude Victor, who she whom she shared a birthday.
She will be lovingly remembered by: her two sons Travis (Tiffany) and Quincy Victor, her granddaughters’: Indya Victor, Briauna Celiece Victor, and Tiana Victor; grandsons: Quincy Cole Lee Victor and Isaiah Victor; God- children Reginald Azore and Britni Basquine; a group of special cousins and friends that were more like her sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
On Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, located at 1175 Lincoln St. in Beaumont, the Celebration of Life memorial service for Madonna will be at 11 a.m.
