Rev. Oliver Wendell “O.W.” Mack, 93 native of Hearne, TX passed away from his earthly labor to begin his journey to his heavenly reward on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, TX. 

He served proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII. 

He was the pastor of New Elam Baptist Church in Hearne for 46 years before he retired. 

Rev. Mack leaves a legacy of love and wisdom to his son, Rev. Delbert A. Mack, Sr. (Alpha Denise); daughters, Vineta Cook (Frank), Naomi Lockett (Samuel), Roslyn Ward (Walter) and Mabris Blue; fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; and host of family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Vina Ella Mack and his son, Rev. Oliver D. Mack. 

There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 5, 2017, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at New Elam Baptist Church in Hearne and also on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 12 noon until the homegoing service at 1:00 p.m. at Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church in Beaumont. He will take his earthly rest next to his wife at Greater Riverside Cemetery in Hearne on Monday, September 9, 2017 at 10 a.m. with military honors.
