Gabriel Floyd Duriso, well known and respectfully called “Gabe” by all of those who knew him from a very young age was born on August 29, 1936 in Opelousas, Louisiana to Felix Duresseau and Irene Semien. 

The family came to Beaumont when Gabe was just a little boy where he attended public school.

He met and married Helen Ruth Chatman, and to that union two children were born Gabriel Ary and Cheryl Lynn Duriso. 

He later went to the United States Army and was honorably discharged.

Gabe was a man of great wisdom and strength who worked hard throughout his life to support his family……He was a carpenter by trade, and a bartender in various clubs in the city of Beaumont where he was well known and was a true friend to those he met.

He passed away at the age of 84 on September 27, 2020 at Harbor Hospice in the City of Beaumont. He resided with and was cared for during the past 10 years on and off with his daughter Cheryl “Cherry” Duriso Loeb, and her late husband Nick Loeb. His son, Gabriel “Ary” Duriso was a constant in his life, loved and deeply admired him, always there spending countless bonding Father and Son time together.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Gabriel Ary Duriso (Yolanda), his daughter, Cheryl Duriso Loeb, and brother, Landry Duriso. He had three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He also raised Derrick Owens, Sanetra Guillory, Karla King and their children.

He was cared for by his provider Jacqulyn “Jackie” Wells, whom he deeply loved. Also left to cherish his memories are a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who all loved him dearly. Gabe was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Duresseau & Irene Simien, three brothers, Jim, Earnest and Felix; three sisters, Isabella (Tut), Mary Louise (Sister), Gladys (Mae); His wife, Wilma Bernice and Son in love Nick Loeb.

Celebration of Life Service info: Graveside Memorial Service @ 1:00 PM  Tuesday, October 6, 2020 @  Houston National VA Cemetery  10410 Veterans Memorial Blvd Houston, Texas.

*Per CDC/State of Texas/City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas regulations, everyone is always required to wear face masks in the buildings.

*Seating will be limited to 50% capacity of the chapel, church, or place of the funeral service.

*6 – FEET SOCIAL DISTANCING for attendees seating and every other row & at the cemeteries.
