Layton Young was born to Cedrious Young, Sr. and Emma Thierry Young on January 25, 1945 in Opelousas, Louisiana.

He was a long time member of Morning Star Baptist Church under the pastorage of Pastor Rufus Parker. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Company after many dependable years of  service.

On Thursday, November 12, 2020 Layton passed away at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas to began his eternal rest in the bosom of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Layton was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Cedrious, Sr., siblings, Clayton, Clifford, Thelma, Sherman, Clarence, Cedrius, Jr., Cleveland, and Talbert.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Layton Jamie Young and Jimmy Ray Young; grandson, Karter Jamison Young, sister, Johnnie Mae Young-Savoy; brothers, Dallas Young and Adam Young (Melba); brother-in-law, Isaiah Harmon (Alice); sisters-in-law, Velma, Luvenza, Gloria and Roxy. Also a numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
