Louis “Doona” Stewart, Jr.
Louis Stewart, Jr. was born to the late Louis, Sr. and Mary (Thomas) Stewart on February 23, 1940 in Beaumont, Texas.
He was raised in the Pear Orchard Community of Beaumont, Texas where he graduated from Hebert High School in 1958. He met Charlotte Cotton the love of his life in 1961. She became his wife and they raised a family together, sadly Charlotte passed away in 2018. Louis also known affectionately to his family and friends alike as “Doona” or “Uncle Lou”.
He worked as a Longshoreman from Local 1316 for 35 years.
In his past time, he enjoyed bowling and golfing with his brothers. He was deeply passionate about golfing. And he loved watching it as well.
He was also preceded in death by daughters, Lisa Stewart and Kathy Jones, sister, Jeanetta Dorsey and Delores Cormier.
On Sunday, June 21, 2020 Louis was called home to begin his journey to heaven in Beaumont, Texas at Baptist Hospital.
He is survived by his daughters, Delores Williams (Cilton), Shelia Veal (Paul), Cassandra Jones, Tabatha Hambrick (Kenneth) and Donja Stewart and Jennifer Stewart; stepson, Terry Lee Gordon; brothers, Thomas Stewart, Sr. (Gloria) and William Stewart, Sr.; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also a host of family and friends.
On Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Greater Good Hope Baptist Church, 2725 W. Virginia St, Beaumont, Texas there will be a visitation at 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. He will take his earthly rest at a private burial at 2:30 p.m.
