Sherman John Burleigh, Jr.

1968 ~ 2016

Sherman John Burleigh, Jr., 47, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA.

He was born in Galveston, Texas, to Sherman, Sr. and Barbara Chevis Burleigh on July 17, 1968. Sherman grew up in Beaumont, TX where he was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He attended public schools in Beaumont and graduated from Central High School of 1988.

Sherman joined the U.S. Navy in July 1989. He was stationed in Norfolk, VA on the USS Theodore Roosevelt. Sherman is a veteran of the Gulf War. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Sherman went to barber college in Portsmouth, VA. He became associated with Precision Kuts for several years until he became the owner. He was later associated with Salon X in Virginia Beach, VA where he was co-owner until his death untimely.

Sherman leaves precious memories to his parents, Sherman, Sr. and Barbara Burleigh; daughters, Courtney and Cydney Burleigh, his significant other, Gayette Williams, siblings, Jason Burleigh, Cynthia Burleigh-Jones (Bronte) and Raina Burleigh-Cole; other family members and many friends.

Celebration of Life services will be on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (780 Porter St.): Visitation 9 a.m. until the Rosary at 10:15 a.m. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. He will take his earthly rest at Magnolia Cemetery with military honors.
