Mrs. Marie “Essley” Chentlen Life Story……

Marie “Essley” Broussard Chentlen was born on June 20, 1921, to Ursin and Angeline Mouton Broussard in Delcambre, Louisiana. She was a twin and the youngest of 13 children.

Essley was raised in Delcambre, Louisiana and in her young adult years, moved to Beaumont, Texas. She was a faithful member of both Blessed Sacrament and Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. She was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court #28, the Saint Joseph Society, and a member of the Senior Citizens Group of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church.

Essley enjoyed baking, especially her 7 Up cakes, and had a passion for socializing with family and friends. She loved playing cards and looked forward to her Casino trips every month. She also enjoyed playing Pokeno, on Christmas, at her niece (Joyce) house.

Essley was a caregiver for the Lamar Bevil Family for over 48 years and was considered part of the family.

Essley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alvin Chentlen, children, Albert Wayne Hebert Sr. and Diane Stephens; step-daughter, Cynthia Renay Woods; step-granddaughter, PerShawna Woods, special daughter, Mary Bevil; brothers, Colvin, Carles, Staffas, Esperio and Pressley; sisters, Louisiana, Josephine, Esperia, Sadie, Eula, Annie, and Nola.

Essley leaves to cherish her memories, grandchildren, Shelley Stephens of Houston, Texas, Joanette Stephens of Las Vegas, Nevada, Albert Wayne Hebert Jr. of Beaumont, Texas and his mother, Nancy Hebert; step-granddaughter, Tamala Ephraim; godchild, Charles Broussard; four great-grandchildren, Shanae Fletcher, Doniese Crayon, Autumn Allen and Damion Allen Jr.; four great-great-grandchildren, Caden Babin, Amaya Selexman, Nolan Selexman, and Aliyah Selexman. She also helped raise two special children, Betsy and Lamar Bevil, also left to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
